One of our favorite local restaurants, Lock 50, always keeps us entertained from great food and drink to a variety of events scheduled weekly. Make sure you stop by every Wednesday for $1 Oysters and a gin martini while you enjoy live music on their quaint patio. Couldn’t make it out on Wednesday or just ready for round 2? Stop by Lock 50 on “Tiki Thursdays” and relax on the patio with original tiki drinks while listening to live music.
In addition to weekly events, Lock 50 has also an events calendar full of tons of interactive events. Our favorite one is “Wine Wars” or “Dueling Wines”
Wine companies present 3 of their best whites and 3 of their best reds and square off head to head in front on the audience. And the best part is – the audience is the judge, so YOU get to taste the wines and decide for yourself!
It shouldn’t be a shock that yours truly, Global Wines, won the first two rounds against Kobrand and Horizon. The wines we used to win our last round included:
- Iris Pinot Gris
- Alturis Friulano – Renowned for its splendid characteristic bouquet that brings out warm lime-tree honey, white owers and pear. Lively and very refreshing.
- Pico & Vine Chardonnay – Our Chardonnay is a wine of elegance and richness with a bouquet of apple, pear and citrus fruit that carries through to the palate. Hints of vanilla and nutmeg arise followed by a crisp and refreshing nish.
- Le Versant Pinot Noir – Delicate color with garnet tones. On the nose, aromas of cherry, wild strawberries and fresh black currant. Elegant and smooth palate with fruity, smoky and minty hints.
- Cairdean Merlot
- Caprili Rosso di Montalcino
The audience’s favorites were the Merlot and Rosso di Montalcino – visit our website to see where you can pick some up to try for yourself, and make sure you stop by the semi finals on September 10th! Tickets are $25, appetizers will be served and wine will be flowing!
