Getting Wicked at BCMF
After an event packed weekend, we are WICKED excited to bring to you a quick recap of all the fun things we were involved with throughout the Boston Calling Music Festival! From Sia’s amazing performance to Arancini Bro’s tasty rice balls, we have the inside scoop about everything everyone was raving about throughout Memorial Day Weekend.
Just hours before the 2016 Boston Calling Music Festival was about to kick off, an announcement was made that had fans’ jaws dropping. Boston Calling will no longer be a semi-annual event; it will now only be held once each year to kick off everyone’s summer. Additionally, it was also made public that the festival will be moved to the considerably larger Harvard University athletic fields for every upcoming event. Fans will miss being surrounded by the towering city skyscape, but now, even more people will be able to enjoy themselves by finding a spot in the grass to relax and feel the vibes. The venue will also offer the non-VIP folks an opportunity to be shaded from the blazing sun with some “indoor-type” space. (If you joined us this past Saturday, you know exactly how nice that will be!) With the weather reaching 93 degrees, people were lining up and waiting for over 45 minutes to use 1 of the 10 water taps provided by Boston Water and Sewer Commission. Boston Calling even set up a misting station in the back of City Hall Plaza to keep patrons cool throughout the day!
Some WICKED cool activities throughout the weekend were hosted by the 47 Brand, Kind Bar, and Wicked Wines. The 47 Brand set up a personalization pendant station where all attendees partook in spray painting each other’s pendants – AND attendees were then able to choose a pendant to screen print on; a fun activity and a free souvenir!
Kind Bar had two unique events both promoting their company values – “Do the kind thing for your body, your taste buds and your world.” Friday they were raising awareness about children’s medical health while on Saturday Kind Bar was handing out colorful Gerbera Daisies and asking attendees to pick one and pass it on! #kindawesome
Across the festival in the tree shaded area, Wicked Wines had people lining up to spin the WICKED wheel. We offered a variety of prizes, from coozies, t-shirts, bags and more! Fans were snapping photos and making their way to the nearby bar to try our fun flavors. A few other WICKED cool vendors seen at Boston Calling include; Sam Adams, Dunkin Donuts, Verizon and Mass Health Connector – all giving a little back to the fans out here in Boston! By the end of the festival, City Plaza was crawling with flowers, pendants, glow sticks and Wicked Wine gear!
Some of you asked: What’s the connection with Wine Riot? Can we buy Wicked Wines in their Pavilion? Short answer, no. But, our parent importer company, Global Wines, featured two wines you may have tried at the Pavilion. Casal de Sofia Vinho Verde, a light, crisp, semi-sparkling white and our Flama d’Or Cava Rosé, a sparkling and dry Rosé were sure to provide some chilled refreshment! [Shoot us a message through our CONTACT page to find out where you can buy these wines.]
As each night came to a close, fans raved over Sia, Disclosure, HAIM, Odesza, Miike Snow and more. All artists kept the crowd coming back for more. Back in the office, we decided to take a vote and see which performer stole the hearts of the Wicked Wine employees – the polls are in and it was a close call between Sia and Elle King.
Fans not only loved the wide variety of bands lined up to perform but we also loved the array of food trucks and tents. From all organic burrito bowls, rice balls and fried Oreos, to Ruth’s Chris lobster rolls, this event satisfied everyone’s weekend cravings.
Even if you weren’t at the show, you can still capture everything that happened by looking through social media! The infamous, @OnlyInBOS is always up to date on all events here in MA and we were WICKED excited to be able to do a snapchat take over for him last Saturday! Tens of thousands of Wicked Wine fans were going crazy with our newly released geofilter and hundreds of new people became a part of our NEW Wicked Wine Club! (Reach out to us to get on that list!)
We were thrilled to have our wine served throughout the entire event and we were even more excited to be able to actually meet some of our fans! Follow us throughout the summer on our blogging journey and catch up with us at our next event to win some more free gear! Let’s be WICKED good friends!
